Nadi Shodhana Pranayama for overwhelm & anxiety

Many people are feeling totally overwhelmed and anxious at the moment however there are lots of ways to help you manage the stress and anxiety of overwhelm.



Here is a wonderful simple breathing technique which is almost immediate and is very easy to access.


  • Come to a seated position, either cross legged, sitting on your heels or on a chair.

  • Keep your back straight, eyes closed and make sure you are warm and comfortable.

  • Bring your hands to your heart in Anjali Mudra, prayer position, and gently press your thumbs into your chest, this pressure will bring immediate relief.

  • Start to breathe in and out in equal measure, slow and steady, feel your sit bones on the floor, feel your feet ground.

  • Keep taking deep steady breaths in and out.

  • Now bring your right hand up to your nose and press your right thumb onto your nose so you close your right nostril.

  • Bring your index and third finger to your forehead and close your left nostril with your fourth finger.
