“Ayu" means life and "Veda" means science

Ayurveda is a holistic medical system emerging from India which has been practiced for at least 5,000 years and is part of the Vedas. The Vedas are ancient Indian texts complied by great wise men called Sages. The Sages realised by sitting in meditation, practicing Yoga and observing nature anything and everything evolves and by realising this truth they realised we can evolve through illness and into health.

  • The aim of Ayurveda is to PREVENT and PROTECT a healthy persons status and to TREAT and CURE any dis-ease and imbalances by applying Ayurvedic therapeutics however Ayurveda only works if you are willing to follow the advice of your practitioner and commit to the treatment plan that is prepared and presented to and for you.

  • Ayurveda and Yoga are known as sister sciences and compliment each other.

  • Ayurveda is a holistic way of being. It combines diet, lifestyle, routines/ habits, yoga, massage, detoxification, herbal remedies and meditations/ yoga nidras to help you live a long and healthy life. Every approach is tailored to your individual needs and whether you are an athlete, a bride, suffering from a condition/ illness, want to get pregnant or simply want to improve your health Ayurveda can help you achieve your goal. Ayurveda is prevention-oriented and is free from harmful side-effects, it treats the root cause of a disease rather than just the symptoms and looks at all areas of your life to help you achieve your goal. All the products I use from Ayurveda Pura are natural and organic and are not tested on animals.

By booking an Ayurvedic consultation an Ayurvedic practitioner can determine your bodies natural body type, your prakruti and your current imbalanced body type, vikriti.

We do this by asking in-depth questions and taking and recording your pulse and tongue status. Your body type or constitution is a combination of the five great elements which present themselves as three doshas or biological forces, Vata, Pitta and Kapha. We all have these three biological forces within us however typically one or two doshas dominate over the others. Your underlying natural body type always remains the same however as conditions change due to life’s circumstances - diet, lifestyle and emotional, physical responses to stress - you can become imbalanced and this imbalance becomes your current body type and status. Our aim is to bring you back to balance and to your natural body type.
